of Interest re: Gold Coast Symposium 2007
Below are a few
simple points on understanding what is really
happening behind the etiology of a malocclusion with a
simple view to how we can correct this and get a
balanced case, as well as better marketing techniques
for dealing with the patient in the clinic.
A few simple points
stood out for me:
1. The action and
positioning of your tongue as you swallow 2000 times a
day clearly is absolutely vital, as it allows the
action of fibres which in turn create hormones which
affect bone growth. This is possible at any age.
2. The teeth are not
quite as important as we think. In fact if we can just
develop an arch form to allow the tongue to do its job
and accommodate the correct function then all will be
ok. As long as we of course ensure we use some
technique to ensure we get correct function.
3. What better than a
simple technique where we are using perhaps a: T4K or
T4CII or T4B or Myobrace (With or Without the core) to
get this correct function and then of course use
whatever other techniques we also need to get the best
occlusion.
Marketing:
It's so vital to
ensure that the patient understands the value of your
treatment. Here are some marketing tips:
A) A full
understanding as we begin treatment is vital.
B) Take good records
and share with the patient every month so that they
see changes.
C) Consider getting a
studio to take a final face shot that we send to the
patients and their families so they see the great
results that have developed for them.
What an exciting
Symposium, proving more than ever the awareness that
is developing globally in better and better simpler
treatments which are not only simpler and more
effective but also very financially rewarding for
every clinic that puts this program together properly.
